CENTENARY COMPETITION

Thursday, 8th of July 2021 at Chester-le-Street Golf Club

Invitations are invited from Masons throughout the Province of Durham, their wives/partners and friends, to once again compete for the Ravensworth Golf Trophy – this time in its centenary year.

The Competition was first held in 1921 at Ravensworth Golf Club with the winners, Bros Olloman & Cook, representing the oldest lodge in the Province – Lodge of Industry No. 48. They were the first recipients of the trophy presented to the Province, by our then, Provincial Grand Master, Lord Ravensworth.

This year the competition is being held at Chester-le-Street Golf Club, located beneath the magnificent Lumley Castle, and the format, as it was in its first year, will be FourBall Betterball Stableford with a maximum handicap of 28. To win the Ravensworth Trophy, the winning pair must be 2 masons from the Province of Durham, representing a named lodge, of which at least one of the pair is a member. Non – mason guests are welcome to play and, although ineligible to win the trophy, will receive a prize if finishing in a “placed” position. There will also be prizes for nearest the hole and longest drive etc.

The entry fee is £35, which includes coffee and biscuits before teeing off and a one course meal afterwards. Any excess funds raised will be donated to the Province of Durham TLC scheme and we hope to have an appearance from Ted on the day. It is expected that entries will be made either as a foursome or as a pair. Tee times are reserved from 10am to 12.30pm on the day and those wishing to enter should contact Alan Jenkins on alan202@btinernet.com (07780 304364) or Martin Rankin on martinrankin@btconnect.com (07850 527100) and let them know of your preferred tee time.

Unfortunately, we cannot consider any entry as valid until payment is received which can be either by cheque – payable to “Ravensworth Golf Trophy” or by bank transfer to Ravensworth Golf Trophy, Sort Code 20-45-45, Account no 03562204. Please contact our Treasurer, Stephen Willis, on 07931 523570 if you need any assistance

A raffle will be held on the day and prizes would be welcomed. In addition, certain holes will be sponsored – Please contact Craig Pattison on 07921 220186 for further details.

We look forward to welcoming you to this very special Centenary Event, one that we hope you will support, but more particularly enjoy if you participate in it.
