Northumbria Blood Bikes were the Spirit of Rugby’s chosen Charity for the year.
The Special Interest Lodge, based at Chester le Street Masonic Centre, raised the magnificent amount of £1,400. This was mainly through the sale of commemorative coins as shown in the photographs and also from raffles and other fundraising events during his year.
In addition to the Lodge fundraising, John and his wife Janet (who has personally been a recipient of blood delivered to a hospital by NBB) collected “loose change” in a jar throughout the year which amounted to the incredible amount of £200.
On Friday 16th August cheques totalling £1,600 were presented to John Watts, Deputy Provincial Grand Master of Durham Freemasons, and NBB volunteer rider, at the Lodge’s annual installation evening. John Rutherford handed over the reins to his successor Craig Gartside who we hope will have similar fundraising success for his charity of the year, TLC Teddies.
