Agricola Lodge once again enjoyed one of the most anticipated evenings in its calendar - the annual Lamb Night - a wonderful occasion that perfectly blends formality and fellowship.
A Double Initiation to Remember
The ceremony of the evening was the initiation of two new Brothers: Joseph Robinson Taylor and Izaak Robinson Taylor, sons of Brian Taylor. It is always a special moment when family ties are strengthened within the Craft, and this occasion was particularly meaningful.
In a proud and heartfelt moment, their father delivered the North East Corner - carried out with much emotion
The work of the evening was conducted to a high standard by all involved, under the leadership of the newly installed Worshipful Master, Andy Whitehead. His direction ensured the ceremony was both sincere and exemplary, setting a strong tone for the year ahead.
Festive Board & Proud Toasts
Following the ceremony, the brethren gathered at the festive board where the lamb was thoroughly enjoyed in excellent company. The proud father then rose to deliver the toast to the initiates, sharing the delightful detail that both Joseph and Izaak were born on Lodge nights - and, remarkably, he still managed to attend Lodge on both occasions! A testament indeed to his dedication (to the Lodge, at least!)
Adding to the evening, Scott Butler, representing Durham Cornerstone, had the pleasure of presenting Joseph and Izaak with their Cornerstone badges. In doing so, he reminded them that while they had joined Agricola Lodge, they had also become part of the wider Province of Durham, encouraging them to broaden their Masonic friendships across the Province and make the most of the opportunities ahead.
It was, by all accounts, an excellent evening - rich in tradition, fellowship, and celebration. From the solemnity of the ceremony to the warmth of the festive board, Lamb Night once again proved why it remains such a cherished date in the Agricola Lodge calendar.
We look forward to doing it all again next year.
