Paul Fryer from Hartlepool is set to take on a marathon cycling challenge after being unable to complete the recent Durham Freemasons Charity Bike Ride due to his wife’s illness. Determined not to let down his sponsors or the children supported by the Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) scheme, Paul has pledged to go even further.
From 21 to 23 September, Paul will cycle to every Accident & Emergency department in the Province of Durham, covering an equivalent distance to the 160-mile Charity Bike Ride. He will complete the challenge in just 72 hours, delivering TLC bears along the way with support from the TLC Durham team.
Paul said:
“Every mile I ride is a chance to ensure that children in A&E receive a bear to ease their worries and bring a smile.”

Since 2007, Durham Freemasons have donated 120,000 TLC bears to local hospitals, raising nearly a quarter of a million pounds. Nationally, Freemasons have raised more than £10 million, providing over 4 million bears to children across England, Wales, and beyond.
