Durham Freemasons Charity and Tees Lodge No.509, were proud and honoured to support the Royal British Legion Stockton branch to assist in the 80th D-Day Anniversary event and to support veterans of the Armed Forces. Representatives of the Charity and members Tees Lodge attended a magnificent festival of remembrance at the Globe Theatre in Stockton-on-Tees. The presentation of a matched funding grant of £1000 to Lin Simpson of the local British Legion branch was made by Ian Tranter Lodge Charity Steward and Tom Gittins representing Durham Freemasons Charity. Also pictured is Owen Parkes a member of Tees Lodge who is a very active British Legion standard bearer who took part in the evenings proceedings. The Local Mayors of Stockton on Tees and Thornaby on Tees were present, along with Deputy Lord- Lieutenant Neil Schneider, DL.
The Festival of Remembrance featured many acts including local children and young people who took part in singing activities. This was a fitting tribute to such a momentous time in our history. The evening was concluded with much dignity, a fall of Poppies and silence. A super example of local Freemasons making a difference to the lives of others. Stronger Together.
