Durham freemasons Support Queens Platinum Jubilee Events
Durham freemasons are supporting ‘Platinum Jubilee Beacon Events’ around the four areas of the Province on the evening of the 2nd of June 2022, where beacons will be lit simultaneously as part of a national day of celebration.
We are encouraging as many brethren as possible to go along with their family’s to be part of what is an historic occasion, enjoy a fun packed evening with all proceeds raised going to local charitable causes.
On 6th February this year Her Majesty the Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms, and the Commonwealth. To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, events and initiatives will take place throughout the year, culminating in a four day UK bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June.
The four days of celebrations will include public events and community activities, as well as national moments of reflection on The Queen’s 70 years of service.
On 2nd June 2022, we will celebrate another unique milestone in our history, Her Majesty the Queen’s 70th year as our Monarch and Head of the Commonwealth – her Platinum Jubilee, is a feat no previous monarch has achieved.
More than 2,022 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service. The beacons will enable local communities,
