COVID-19 Grant Keeps Lines Open

July‘Family Help’ Darlington Women’s Refuge has been awarded an £840 Support Grant to enable regular communication with clients to be maintained.
When staff were unable to work on-site due to lockdown, Family Help was faced with the challenge of maintaining regular communication with its clients and managing its domestic abuse helpline, which receives approximately 30 calls per month, whilst working remotely.
Family Help had to source 4 mobile handsets, one for each of its support staff, to maintain regular contact with clients despite staff not being on-site.
The charity also needed to divert its helpline calls to a dedicated mobile to ensure those affected by domestic abuse could still access their specialist support service by telephone. The Grant will now make it possible to maintain telecommunications for an entire year.
