Johnstonian Lodge was consecrated in 1989 by a group of enthusiastic current and former teachers at Durham Johnston School. Today we are a mix of former teachers, past pupils and those with a connection to the school or our members, although this is not a requirement for membership and we would welcome all new members. We are an enthusiastic group, dedicated to adhering to the principles of Masonry whilst maintaining friendship and enjoyment for all. We are also members of the Federation of School Lodges.
What We Do
Johnstonian Lodge prides itself on tradition, but we are always looking to adapt with the times to ensure we can cater for the modern mason, whilst still maintaining those core values. Whilst we still have links with the school and we have funded student prizes, we are open to all potential candidates who may wish to join our Lodge.
Why Join Us
Whilst we are a relatively young lodge, our membership encompasses a wide age range, all of whom are committed to their Freemasonry and the principles of benevolence and charity. Our Lodge only meets four times a year which is not too demanding in this busy world, but we also endeavour to arrange socials and fund raising activities which prove very popular with our members and friends. We are not a large lodge in term of members, but every member gets involved and along with our families, we enjoy our Masonry. Being part of a larger Masonic family with all the other lodges which meet at Durham is also a great attraction.
