THE
PURPOSE OF OUR WEBSITE
The
Sunderland Lodge was the first lodge in the Province of Durham to go
“on-line” (in June 1999) after
gaining approval from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Durham and the United Grand
Lodge of England.
The
web site has three purposes.
To inform the world about our
lodge.
To encourage Freemasons who either
live in the area or who are visiting Sunderland to visit our lodge.
To help men who are not Freemasons
to find out more information about our organization and should they prove
to be suitable candidates for membership, allow them to join the organization.
During
the last few years we had a membership problem, dropping to 17 members at one
point. We have now made great improvements and a number members have
joined our lodge after making inquiries through this website.
We have worked hard to improve our membership, but during the
“bad times” we relied on visitors to keep us going. Even though membership
has greatly improved, we still encourage regular visitors and give them a
welcome second to none!
If
you are a Freemason PLEASE VISIT THE SUNDERLAND LODGE No. 4114 (acknowledged as one of the friendliest
lodges in the Province of Durham!)
If
you are NOT a Freemason, you may want to know more about the organisation.
So
if
you live in the north-east of England and are interested in joining The
Sunderland Lodge click below and send a brief message or questions. You need not leave your
name at this stage.
