Sportsman's Lodge No. 9440 was formed in 1991, its members having a mutual interest in sport.

It has a membership of 79 and receives many visitors.

In the early days precise details of the number of members and visitors intending to be present was requested in advance of the meeting and unfortunately the lodge gained a reputation of being a "by invitation only" lodge.

This could not be further from the truth.

Visitors (even those arriving at the last minute) are made very welcome and encouraged to visit again - most do.

We have a large number of joining members - many who originally came to the lodge as visitors.

As we meet in July many visitors who do not like the long summer recess come to this meeting.

Sportsman's Lodge celebrated its 10th anniversary in October 2001
