The Universities Scheme

The Lodge of Fraternity welcomes students.

For many years lodges associated with the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge have been highly successful.  Consequently, a few years ago the Grand Lodge of England introduced the Universities Scheme nationally.

The scheme offers undergraduates and postgraduates the opportunity to join Freemasonry.  The aim is to open up wider opportunities for undergraduates and other university members to join and enjoy Freemasonry.

While the normal age limit for joining Freemasonry is 21, in the case of students, this limit is reduced to 18.  In addition, reduced fees are charged to those aged under 25.

The scheme enables specific lodges to be particularly open to undergraduates.  The Lodge of Fraternity is one of these and has enthusiastically joined the Universities Scheme, welcoming undergraduates and postgraduates in general, especially those studying in the Stockton locality.

Durham University has a total of 16 colleges, 14 are located in the city of Durham and two are at Queen’s Campus adjacent to the River Tees at Stockton.

The two colleges at Stockton are John Snow College and Stephenson College.

Freemasonry offers students the opportunity of meeting a wide variety of people from the local community.
