Boundary Court is a private retirement housing complex of 48 two bedroom apartments on Kingsway in the centre of Bishop Auckland, a vibrant market town in Wear Valley, County Durham.  Following the boundary of the cricket field from where it gets its name it is a Masonic Community for those aged 60+

 

Those eligible for residence are Freemasons and their wives/partners, Masonic widows, spinster daughters of Freemasons.  Other applicants who have a close Masonic connection may also be considered

 

It is conveniently located directly across the road from Bishop Auckland Masonic Hall, close to the main shopping area in Bishop Auckland town centre and within easy walking distance of major supermarkets, post office, health centre, hospital, train and bus stations

 

Excellent security includes CCTV, a door entry system viewable on residents own TV’s and an emergency call system in each apartment and communal areas

 

When the on site home manager is not on duty, 24 hour on-call cover is provided.   Other facilities include a resident’s lounge, library, sun lounge, craft/hobby room, internet room, laundry & drying rooms, assisted bathroom, hairdressing & beauty salon, landscaped grounds, car park for residents and their visitors.  A twin en suite guest room is available for residents’ family and friends

 

The foundation stone was formally laid on 3rd February 2005, the development completed in early 2006, with the first residents moving in later that year.  An official opening was conducted by our neighbour The Rt Rev Dr N T Wright, Bishop of Durham on 5th August 2008

 

Apartments are designed for an independent retired person or couple and are currently available for purchase or to rent.  Those wishing to buy pay 70% of the value, currently between £63,00 and £87,500 both of which are under the stamp duty threshold

 

Rent is between £300 and £330 pcm.  Service charge which includes a home management service, 24 hour emergency assistance, building insurance, broadband internet, maintenance of all communal areas, car park and gardens is £149 pcm
