Phil is a Past Master, and the current secretary, of the Lodge of Progress 8259 which meets in Chester-le-Street and a member of Cuneceaster Chapter as well as being the East Area Information Officer for the Province of Durham.

As a founder member of the Durham Provincial Grand Stewards Lodge, Phil is well known in the East of the Province where he has acted as A.D.C. for many representatives of the PGM at installations over the past few years.
